Two Poems by Marvel Chukwudi Pephel

Imagery

On a sunny day
By the beach
Figures in bikinis
And swimsuits loiter;
The waters charge,
A warring horse.
It charges and charges
Until its tidal rein tears
And the horse collapses,
Spitting out enormous saliva
Which swathes the shores.
The sun's gravitational pull.

Rain

Grey
Clouds
Lay
Hands
On
Earth
Worn
Out;
Thirst
Quenched,
Drought
Drenched;

Greasing
Season.
