A Poem by Harmony Hodges

The Octopus

The soft bulbous protuberance paused
one tentacle palpated a
dead fish

softly

Seven arms still swam
dancing through murky water
until a shark approached
then
the never ending ball of camouflage
rolled across the ocean floor
a gliding mass of mystery

stoic

Composing musical lyrics across the water
humming love notes written by
Beethoven
punctuated with spilled ink
